Online tools I used
B

Hi, I am Basant Soni. I make projects with HTML, CSS and JavaScript. I write articles from the experience I get by making projects.

As promised in the my first article, I am going to share the online tools I used. I wants to be a web developer and my initial focus is on the frontend development. So in this article you are going to read information related to this field. Names on this list are not the only tools I used. But after going through many things, I found them most helpful. So I choose to stick with them.

W3SCHOOLS

The most helpful in learning theory and for the in-depth knowledge of the topic. I learned HTML, CSS and JavaScript from this website. Also about Git as well. www.w3schools.com open the door of your learning. Make your account and start learning for free.

You can also pay some amount if you wish and can get your certificate after the examination. I also suggest to not read all the things without doing any practice. You will not remember most of the things you read without practising it and also you may not need all the things from the day one.

For the practice part I am suggesting freecodecamp website.

FREECODECAMP

This is where you are going to practice or say learn by practice. This tool is also free. Make your account and choose the course you want to learn. It has a series of practice sessions. After completing the course you need to build some projects and get a chance to test what you learn. After submitting your projects you will get your certificate at free of cost. The website is www.freecodecamp.org

I suggest to spend your time wisely on your projects. I saw some projects in Responsive Web Design certificates and those were awful. You can get certificate just by following instructions and completing all the criteria. But your focus should not be on the certificate but on the learning process. You can learn a lot of things while building your projects. (My projects are the next topics for the articles in upcoming weeks.)

SQLBOLT

SQL is used to play with data. I was asked to prepare this for an interview so I learnt it from sqlbolt.com (don't use www as prefix if you are typing)This website consists, as written in website itself, many interactive lessons and exercises designed to help you quickly learn SQL right in your browser. For the basic and simple SQL, without any additional SQLite or MySQL, this is quite helpful.

No need to make any account. Just read and apply. You can choose to learn step by step. If you want to learn and practice any specific topic, you can just jump to it.

YOUTUBE

No need to tell you the importance of youtube and learning material you can get from it. There are countless channels and tutors. Choose one as per your choice. And this is the important part. Don't go to fancy tutors who can teach you anything in some minutes. Like learn the basics of JavaScript in 5 minutes. : |

Here are the names I like to share with you-

  • MIT OpenCourseWare
  • freecodecamp
  • Traversy Media
  • Florin Pop

I personally recommend the Introductory course from MIT OpenCourseWare.

HASHNODE

Hashnode is the new entry in my learning journey. It is commonly known that you can learn more while teaching to others. Hashnode provides me a platform not only to share knowledge but also to share my experiences. Here is my first article.

#4articles4weeks will end in the next 2 weeks but my articles will not end This is the aim of current competition after all. Keep your mind and keyboard active.

UDEMY

Here is the one paid course I am using. 50 days 50 projects by Brad Traversy and Florin Pop. This course used HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Being purely project based course, you will learn a lot from this.

By the time you complete all the projects you will learn and revise a lot of concept and get to know how concept work in real life. I am sure you will feel confident.

These are the most helpful online tools from where I learn and improve. Hope you also find them useful. Please let me know. Your feedback is appreciated. : )

Thank you so much for your valuable time.
